The Official
Feline Hip Dysplasia Awareness
Web Site
This site attempts to provide
accurate and current data on feline hip dysplasia and offers an opportunity
for feline breeders, fanciers and other interested parties to openly present
hip dysplasia concerns in a positive, nonjudgmental and supportive atmosphere.
| This
site was conceived by, created by, and is maintained by 'mere' cat fanciers
- not by breeders, natural food stores, catalogue or X-ray
companies, pharmaceutical companies, or veterinary medicine professionals.
Just people who have a genuine concern for the health and well being of
our feline friends. The objectives of the site are listed on the
Home Page; please observe that giving certified medical/veterinary
advice of any kind is NOT on this list.
The material presented on this FHDA web site is intended for information and educational purposes only. To the best of FHDA’s knowledge, the information presented herein is accurate; FHDA disclaims any implied or expressed warrants for accuracy, and no claim is expressed or implied as to the legitimacy of information presented by others on the sites to which links are given. FHDA represents no particular opinion, theory, philosophy or method and takes no stand as to how cat fanciers or breeders could or should participate in reducing the incidence of feline hip dysplasia. You should not rely on information in the web pages in lieu of consultation with a veterinarian or other pet health care professional. FHDA strives to offer current data on feline hip dysplasia and therefore presents a wide variety of information not solely that which supports a particular opinion or philosophy. Although hip dysplasia is not a new diagnosis, feline HD is relatively new to diagnostic genre. As such, differing opinions and seemingly contradictory statements may appear - not unusual in a new field of scientific inquiry or research endeavor. We trust our readers are intelligent enough to read, learn, and evaluate then "take what they need and leave the rest". |

NOTE: Breeders or catteries and supporters acknowledged by the FHDA logo (see right) or by a link to their web site have assured FHDA that they X-ray breeding cats for feline hip dysplasia or have plans in place to do so and are listed in the web site. In no way does the FHDA logo guarantee that these breeders do, in fact, screen for any health related conditions including hip dysplasia nor that animals bred thereof are any healthier than those of any other breeders'. A cattery or breeder not listed on this site does not necessarily mean they do not test their cats for HD. FHDA acknowledges the fact that all animal purchasers are greatly "on their own" when it comes to locating the breeders they feel can be trusted. FHDA supports full health disclosure by feline breeders (as well as any other purebred animal breeders). FHDA also strongly supports efforts to encourage buyers of all purebred animals to inquire about all health-related issues prior to purchase. |
